| Taking a Test |
| |
| | Upon sucessfully logging in as a student, a page containing the various test options will be displayed. | |
| |
|
| |
| | If the student wishes to begin a new test, they should carefully select the type of test they wish to attempt (GCSE, Maths Level 4-6 etc.). To the left of the screen may be two
radio button options - 'Generate a unique test' and 'Select from saved tests'. In this context, a Saved Test is a test that has been previously generated by the Member under whom the student is registered. This will allow the test results to be
compared directly with other students' results, or previous attempts at the same test. This option will not be displayed if the Member has not previously created a Saved or Static Test. If this option is chosen, a drop down list containing the
names of the saved tests will be displayed. |
| |
| | If the 'Generate a unique test' option is selected, questions
will be randomly selected from our database, creating a unique test. It should also be noted that the position of the correct answer within the five options offered is randomly generated, so even if a student
encounters the same question in another test, the correct answer is unlikey to be in the same position.
| |
| | Once the student is satisfied that they have selected the correct options, the 'Begin Test' button should be clicked. | |
| |
| | One further option is for the student to click the link allowing them to view unfinished tests. These are tests that have been paused by the student to be resumed at a later date. Tests in
progress when a browser is accidentally closed, or a PC unexpectedly turned off, also fall into this category.
| |
| |
| | It is important to distinguish between a paused or unfinished test (a test that has not yet been completed), and
a Saved or Static Test (a test that has been generated by a Member for the purpose of accurately comparing test results).
| |
| |
| | Each page contains one question, which may consist of multiple sections. | |
| |
|
| |
| |
| | Progress can be monitored from the page heading and sub-heading (e.g. 'Question part 8 from a total of 50' informs the student
that the test consists of 50 question sections).
| |
| | The student can navigate through the questions by clicking the 'Previous' or 'Next' buttons, or any of the numbered buttons, each button representing a test question.
At any point, the 'Pause Test' button can be clicked, allowing the test to be resumed at a later date.
| |
| | On the final page of the test, 'End Test' buttons will be displayed in place of 'Next' buttons. Once the student is satisfied that they have answered all of the questions
to the best of their ability, they should click one of the 'End Test' buttons.
| |
| | Upon clicking one of the 'End Test' buttons, confirmation of the successful completion of the test will be displayed. | |
| |
|
| |
| |
| | An email containing the student's test results will be sent to the email address of the Member under whom the student is registered. This will contain the student's overall result, along
with details of any questions answered incorrectly, including the correct answer and a useful tip. |
|
| |
|
| |
| |
| | Also contained in the email will be links to any incorrectly answered questions, allowing the student to review the questions in more detail. This can be especially useful if the question contains graphical images. |
